The play we watched called As You Like It turned out to be good. The costumes were amusing but also very attracting. They actors and actresses dressed up in wacky 80’s style clothing, and most of their outfits turned out to be either bright or very colorful. Some characters had the strangest outfits on, especially ones that didn’t even match, such as wigs and jackets. The wigs were very frizzy or even very puffy as if the character had an afro. The jackets had long strings coming down from the arm which looked even more strange than the afro. The music turned out to be descent. The music they used for the play was 80’s themed. They played all kinds of 80’s themed music. Whether it was romantic, hilarious, or even serious, They would play music that added to their mood. For instance, if the characters were sad, they would have sad 80’s music playing. Especially if something were to happen like if a relationship were to begin, then romantic music would begin to play. There were bells that went off during the play which seemed to cause a distraction towards the actors and actresses. What I liked about the actors and actresses were the facial expressions they were using. If they were happy, they would show it, and if they were sad, they would show they were sad. They also had a descent number of people in the play. There were about 8 people in the play. They all played well which gave a good experience. I liked the play but could never understand what they were saying. Especially in a big gym like ours; they probably need to wear head-set microphones next time. I had a hard time understanding them when they would speak. It was just hard for me to understand what was happening. Shakespeare just doesn’t really make sense to me. In conclusion, the whole act was amazing. Yes, there were a few problems, in my opinion, but not as bad as I thought. I just believe next time there should be at least head-set microphones in case they were to come across a very large gym such as ours. It would help a lot, including the echoes in the gym. Yes, I know Shakespeare was part of the act but I could barely understand the whole act when they would use Shakespeare’s language. But other than a few errors, I believe they did great performing the Shakespeare play.
1. List one thing you've learned from writing this paper that you can apply to other writing assignments. What will that look like? I learned how to tab when I'm explaining a different part of the story. It will look a lot more professional and easier to know where I am in the story. 2. Identify a specific revision you were asked to make and explain why (this can be at any stage of the writing process). How did you revise? What did you learn? "As You Like It." We were to explain what we thought about the play and explain about specific details. Like outfits, background, hairstyles, etc. I looked over my paper and fixed words that were either spelled incorrectly or in the wrong place. 3. What are the conventions of an argumentative essay and how did you meet those in this assignment? I gathered up all the information I knew about the play I had watched the day before and put it all in one paper and described all the details I had either saw or heard from the play. 4. Given more time to work on this assignment, how would you improve it? I would go and revise my paper better and try to explain my story better. 5. What is one thing you're proud of in this paper? I'm proud of how much of the paper I got done and the details I put into it.
